| Concrete canoes! Who knew?
Get a load of these concrete canoes built by Alpena Community College Concrete Tech students. This project challenges the students' knowledge, creativity and stamina, while showcasing the versatility and durability of concrete as a building material.
Team Elmer's is proud to have supplied the lightweight aggregate material that allows these vessels to stay afloat. Way to go, paddlers!
| | We Have a Winner... Congratulations Walker Family! The votes have been tallied and Team Elmer's is thrilled to announce that the Walker family of Kingsley is the winner of a new $5,000 driveway!
In addition to submitting their own entry, Angie, Keith, and their daughters Grace and Hadley were also nominated by a caring friend and neighbor. She shares their story:
Hadley is an extreme lover of animals. Grace, although not defined by her disability, was diagnosed at birth with Cerebral Palsy and lives a life filled with doctor appointments and hospital visits. Grace’s main method of transportation is an adorable pink wheelchair which is hard to maneuver in dirt and grass. This spring, Grace’s bus got REALLY stuck in their muddy drive.
Keith is a hard worker, amazing carpenter and loves landscaping the yard. He spends hours customizing furniture to make things easier for Angie to care for Grace. Angie, a true giver, does her best to make life as “normal” as it can be for her girls, despite challenges that come with raising a differently abled child. She gives MANY hours to the 4-H program serving as Treasurer for NWMI Livestock Council. Angie founded the ONLY Differently Abled 4-H Program in Michigan (they focus on children’s abilities rather than disabilities)!
This is clearly one deserving family. And your votes confirmed it!
On behalf of the family, Angie says, "We cannot express how appreciative we are that you selected us as a finalist and how overwhelmed we were with all the community support during the voting process! We just can’t put into words how appreciative we are for the wonderful gift."
The Walkers are ready to roll with the new driveway... We hope to have it installed for them in time for July Fourth festivities! | |
