Team Elmer's Receives Awards of Excellence Team Elmer’s had been awarded two Awards of Excellence from the Builders Exchange of Northwest Michigan for its work on the Holiday Road resurrection and the M-37 Sherman Hill project.
The Team Elmer's crew widened Holiday Road while maintaining traffic flow to the highly populated residential area. The crew used state-of-the-art robotic equipment to ensure precision and accuracy. The completed project received praise from community members.
The M-37 Sherman Hill project required the Team Elmer's crew to work day and night in order to complete large excavation tasks on a tight schedule. The crew reduced the overall pavement grade and worked to make the road conditions safer for motorists.
Team Elmer's will accept its awards at the Builders Exchange of Northwest Michigan's banquet and meeting on January 23rd at the Traverse City Country Club.

Best of 2013 We had a great year here at Team Elmer's! Here's a look back at our best projects of 2013. Best Customer Feedback Project
Team Elmer's resurrected Holiday Road while maintaining traffic flow and causing little disruption to the highly populated area. The completed road was praised by community members! Most Awarded Job
This year we had a tie. The work we completed on Holiday Road and M-37 Sherman Hill both received Awards of Excellence from the Builders Exchange of Northwest Michigan.
Farthest Traveled Job
We lugged our cranes more than 450 miles to Ashland and Marinette, Wisconsin to set cell tower buildings that house the electrical and switching gear for its tower.
Largest Retaining Wall
For Lake Ann Camp, we installed wood pilings for a dock section in their lake. We also installed a retaining wall along their property for easy access and to create a gathering site for the camp. They were happy campers!
Most Unusual Concrete Project
Our most unusual project of the year was the self-sustaining Earth Dome Project in White Cloud, Michigan poured by Frisbee Construction. The dwelling makes "off the grid" living possible using the ground to provide passive insulation, sky lights, solar power among other innovations.
Dizziest Job
Our crew went around and around creating the roundabout at the intersection of M-37 and M-115. This was one of many jobs Elmer's assisted with in an effort to make M-37 a safer place for drivers.
Harshest Weather
Our crushing crews beat the icy temperatures (an average of 10 degrees) at Alpena Pit. The final 12 days consisted of temperatures below freezing. Our crushing equipment ran 24/7 just to keep from freezing!
Best Selfie Construction Picture by a Crew Member
During a project in Manistique, Matt Pearson snapped this selfie using his cell phone. During this project, Team Elmer’s crews installed new sewer and water lines in downtown Manistique, Michigan. View more here. All photos courtesy of Matt Pearson.
Best Construction Site View
Our crew was fortunate enough to have this breathtaking view from Crystal Mountain Ski Resort while pouring a concrete foundation for a ski lift tower.
Most Damage Done By a Raccoon
When a raccoon family found its home in a storm drain in East Bay Park, the problem quickly escalated when the raccoon's feces washed into the bay, spreading E-coli. City officials combated the problem by installing three-step filtration systems (doubling as a raccoon barrier).
Longest Traffic Control Project
The reconstruction of 5.33 miles of M-88 between Bellaire and Central Lake proved to be a traffic challenge with no plausible detours. The Team Elmer's crew maintained traffic flow during the 4 month long project.
Kids Choice Award
Team Elmer's made children's Christmas wishes come true when our team hauled Santa’s newly rehabbed house (courtesy of Bay Area Contracting and several other generous donors) to a new temporary location for the 2013 Christmas season. Most Colorful Project
Team Elmer’s was thrilled to partner with ACT Grand Traverse for Special Kids Day at this year’s National Cherry Festival. Team Elmer’s donated the use of a 35-yard rock tub trailer set, which 100 enthusiastic artists helped transform into a Mobile Community Mural.
Largest Earth Moving Project of the Year
The Elmer's team worked around the clock to excavate large quantities in order to reconstruct a section of the two-lane highway on M-37, known as Sherman Hill, in order to reduce overall pavement grade and boost traffic safety. Furthest Traveled by Truck
Team Elmer’s driver, Jerry Priest, drove the 546 miles to Fort Knox, Tennessee hauling a natural gas compressor there from Natural Gas Compression in Traverse City. He picked up another compressor and hauled it another 546 miles back to Traverse City.
Thanks to everyone who made 2013 a great year! We can't wait to make 2014 even better!
