TRAVERSE CITY, MICH., October 4, 2011 – Team Elmer’s announced today the company has purchased Mohawk Transport, Inc. of Morley, Mich.
The announcement was made by Team Elmer’s Co-Owners Troy Broad, Todd Broad and Tonya Wildfong.
Mohawk Transport has been a family-owned contract trucking business for more than three decades. The company primarily hauls agricultural lime for farmers and farm co-ops and chip seal stone for other commercial contractors throughout the state of Michigan. Mohawk is also experienced in transporting aggregates, gravel, sand, and stone to concrete plants and contractors.
The Mohawk name, brand, and operations will be transitioning to Team Elmer’s over the next week.
Commenting on the announcement, Troy Broad said, "In these challenging times, we're fortunate to be able to forge partnerships like this one. We're bringing on a great group of people, customers, equipment, and services.”
The continued growth of Team Elmer’s has meant that trucking hauls are becoming longer and to destinations throughout the entire state. The new additional trucks will assist with the increased demand, as well as performing outside work, stocking yards, and transporting internal hauls.
Current owner James Carey and two Mohawk drivers will join Team Elmer’s. In his new role as Transportation Services Manager, Carey will oversee the majority of Team Elmer’s Michigan operations, including pricing and overall logistics. The new drivers will be stationed in Big Rapids and will service the Northern Lower Michigan region—from Alma to the Mackinac Bridge and coast to Michigan coast.

Team Elmer’s, a family owned company since 1956, specializes in site development, including excavation, earth moving, underground utility installation, retaining wall construction, directional boring, manhole rehabilitation, aggregate production, concrete ready-mix, asphalt installation (commercial and residential), milling, and crane/rigging, among other specialties. Today, Traverse City, Mich.-based Team Elmer’s has grown to include nearly 300 skilled personnel.
